1 | Machi Koro
If your kids do love Monopoly, try this tabletop card game that takes as little as 30-minutes. Machi Koro is currently the most popular game in our house.
2 | Catan
Be careful with Catan and it’s many expansions. They will suck you into the board game vortex. It is fairly easy to learn (we usually go with YouTube tutorials), very strategic and has sold 22 million copies or so.
BONUS GAME | Dixit
Dixit is a short game (30 minutes or so) rooted in art and creative thinking. The age range is 8 and up, but you can give this one a shot with an interested 5-year-old. A great game for kids to enjoy with their grandparents.
3 | Pandemic
Pandemic is a cooperative game where you work together to find the cure. Cooperative games are a good way to take a break from competitive mentalities and work together. Forbidden Island is another, somewhat simpler, cooperative game that we enjoy.
4 | Ticket to Ride
A train-themed game for ages 6 and up. Ticket to Ride is another great strategic board game for young and old.
5 | Monopoly: The Mega Edition
Well, just in case you love Monopoly we found a Mega Edition with additional properties and some rule changes to speed things up.
